He began a lifelong career as a route salesman at an early age. Gaining State, Regional, and National recognition as a top salesman for Tom’s Foods Inc for many years of excellent service. In 1997 he purchased his own Tom’s Foods distributorship franchise in Wichita Falls, Texas that he paid for in less than two years. Missing time with his children and grandchildren, he moved back to Fort Worth in 2008 keeping his same profession working for his brother Scotty’s snack food distributorship, retiring in 2011.
John began his Christian walk that same year and remained a faithful servant to the end. John learned to play bass guitar very well and that became his passion. He enjoyed every invitation to play at church service, charity events, nursing homes and for his family. This made him most happy to play worship music and to bring his family to attend church with him, filling the whole row of seats. John had a passion for riding motorcycles any time it was possible. He had a smile like no other, a love for every person he knew, gave the best hugs and always had a kind word.
Some of his famous sayings:
“Glad you got to see me” followed by the greatest laugh.
“In order to have a great day- first and last thing you should do -smile when you wake up and smile before you go to bed”.
“Come look at this” usually followed with a new guitar or motorcycle.
