John was born on March 9, 1937 in Lubbock, Texas to John Taylor and Ida Merle Ross. His educational years were spent in San Antonio and he was an outstanding athlete, which led him to a football scholarship at Corpus Christi University. As a graduate of the SMU School of Banking, he began his banking career as Vice President of Data Processing at Oak Cliff Bank in Dallas where he implemented one of the first automated computer processes in banking technology. After his banking career, he attained his real estate broker’s license which eventually led him to establish Ross Investments Inc. in 1977. The longevity of the company is a tribute to his leadership and the loyalty of his staff. Terry will carry on his legacy as President of Ross Investments/Ross Property Management.
John was a long time member of the Apartment Association of Tarrant County, where he served on multiple board positions, including the presidency of AATC. He was quite proud of the fact that his daughter, Terry Ross Jones, eventually followed him in this position. He also served in various positions at the state and national level with the apartment associations.
John married his high school sweetheart, Judith Campbell in 1956 and became the proud father of his two daughters, Terry and Cindy. In 1981, he married “his special love”, Sandi Barton Ross and added his “bonus” daughters, Lisa, Heather and Shannon to his special caring.
While his great dedication was to his staff and clients, John was also a loving husband, caring father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was truly respected by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
