John was born January 25, 1932 to Elic and Lila Porter. He was a kind and loving Husband, Father and Grandfather and good friend. He was generous with family and friends and would give you the shirt off his back. John served in the Korean War in the Navy as a Gunners mate. He received several awards and honors for his service. He had his own business, Porters Lawn and Tree service for 30 years. He was a hard worker and provided well for his family. He donated time and energies to various children’s and school programs.
He is preceded in death by his son, Darold Porter.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Porter; his four children, Lynette and Brian Tinnel, Massachusetts, Harold Porter, Texas, Sharon Miosi, Texas and Mike and Renata Porter, New Zealand. He is also survived by his sister, Beulah and Homer Nash, Texas; his brother, Luther Porter, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
