Mr. John Patrick Garrett, Sr. was born to the late Mrs. Maggie Jean Fain on March 11, 1965, in Dallas, Texas. John was later adopted into the family of KJ and Georgia Kemp. He was the youngest sibling out of 6 children. Growing up, John Patrick Garrett, Sr. was greatly loved by his sister Annie Kemp who helped raised and guide him into the man he is today. John Patrick Garrett, Sr. had two beautiful blessings Patrice and John Garrett, Jr. from a prior relationship.
John Patrick Garrett, Sr. spent most of his childhood in Lake Como, TX and later moved to Everman, TX where he attended public schools and played high school football for Everman High School Class of 1984.
John Patrick Garrett, Sr. accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized at a young age at Greater Rising Star Baptist Church. In 2000, he joined Mount Horum Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Tx where Pastor F.S. Moody, Sr. officiated.
On January 14, 2000, John Patrick Garrett, Sr. united in marriage with the love of his life, Mrs. Shuntel Garrett. With their union they welcome 2 beautiful children Alexandria and Arrington Garrett. They shared 28 years of life and were blessed to celebrate many anniversaries, vacations, birthdays, and holidays.
John Patrick Garrett, Sr. was self-employed for over 20 years and is the founder of J.P. Construction based in Fort Worth, TX. He learned and conquered the work fields of excavation, concrete, asphalt paving, demolition, landscaping, and trucking. John Patrick Garrett, Sr. was a well, known successful minority business owner. In 2019, JP Construction made news headlines and he was selected to interview about his views on submitting a bid to help build former President Trump Border Wall.
John Patrick Garrett, Sr. loved watching movies, football, traveling, watching his grandkids, and driving his trucks around the world alongside his beautiful wife Shuntel Garrett. His wife, children, grandchildren, and family meant the world to him. Of all the things he enjoyed during his life, his most treasured role was being a husband, father, and a grandfather.
In his 56 years of life, we were so blessed and privileged to have known this amazing, loving, humbled man who had a heart of gold. John Patrick Garrett, Sr. was a very hard worker, loyal, dependable, and he had a smile that lit up a room and an infectious laugh that was soothing to the soul. No matter how tired he was, he did not mind stepping in and doing what needed to be done to help in any way and at any time. He was truly one of a kind and was definitely called to serve.
On Tuesday September 28, 2021, God called his son John Patrick Garrett, Sr. to his heavenly home. Although his time was short, he will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. As he rests, we count it all as peace and joy as we say our final good-byes. We understand God needed you more and your purpose here has been served. As you are watching us above from Heaven, we want to thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and love during your time here on earth.
