Jo Fowler, age 88 of Burleson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2021. She was born to the late Edgar S. and Fannie E. (Seymour) Geer on March 27, 1932 in Brownwood, TX. She had one brother and four sisters – Floyd, Evadean, Bessie, Gene, and Jan. Her sister Jan remembers Jo as loving to dance to the popular 1940’s jitterbug. Jo was raised in Kermit and she graduated from Kermit High School where she was a star volleyball player, a sport she loved and played well into her forties.
Jo and the late Nealon Fowler won a contest sponsored by the local radio station in Kermit and were married on the radio. They moved to Fort Worth where they started their lives together while raising three children, Ricky, Mark, and David.
A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren. Jo was a devoted and active member of the Garden Acres Baptist Church in Burleson where she sang in the choir. She was a homemaker who enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Jo was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and would rush home after church every Sunday to watch them play.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Nealon Fowler. Survivors: Sons, David Fowler (Elsa), Mark Fowler (Shelley), Ricky Fowler; grandchildren, Marcus Fowler (Christina), April Fowler, Layla Haase (Dillan), J.T. Fowler, David Casey Fowler; great-grandchildren, Marissa Fowler, Ethan Fowler, Cynthia Luper, extended family, and friends.
