Jerry Lee Ezell passed away in his home on Monday, August 22, 2022. He was 94 years old. He was born June 4, 1928, in Brownwood, Texas to Ruby Lorene Swanner Jones and James David Ezell. Jerry was raised and lived in the Gordon and Strawn Texas area prior to moving to Ft. Worth.
He joined the United States Marines at the height of World War II, and was discharged when the war ended. He was preceded in death by his son Tim Ezell and his granddaughters Tina Renee Ezell and Teresa Johnson. He is survived by his daughters: Ellen Brown and her husband, and Linda Reeves and her husband. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Catera Leslie, Chassidy Banks, Danielle Ezell Brown, Dee Dee Ezell Campbell, Don Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Mendy Roberts, Monica Collier, Neva Smitherman, as well as a multitude of great and great-great grandchildren.
He retired from the Ft. Worth Star Telegram and worked for a number of years after that at a private school.
He loved kids and after helping to raise his own he began helping other children and providing a place for them to live. All of these children knew him as Grandpa and there was a constant flow of children that he helped raise and of course their friends who were in and out of his house. His home was a safe haven.

Funeral services are Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home-Ft Worth. 7100 Crowley Rd. Ft. Worth, Texas 76134
Graveside services will be held immediately following the service with military honors rendered. The family will receive friends at a reception at Laurel Land following the committal.
