Jerry Don Estes was born April, 29, 1929, in Long Grove, Carter County, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents L.B. Estes and Georgia Porter Estes, 1 sister and 2 brothers. Jerry is survived by his wife Rachel G. Beechly Estes, nephew Jackie Smith of Brownsville, Oregon , and numerous nephews and nieces on the Beechly side of the family.
Jerry enlisted in the Army on March 9, 1951 and was discharged on February 25, 1953. He was a radio operator. He enlisted in the reserves on February 27, 1953 and was discharged November 7, 1956.
Jerry married Rachel G. Beechly on May 21, 1957 in Louisiana. They lived in Louisiana where he attended mechanic's school to learn to work on big rig trucks of all kinds. He and Rachel then moved to Ventura, California where they lived until his retirement. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. After retirement, they moved back to Texas and settled in Burleson, Texas.
Jerry loved to garden, and put together models. His favorite models were his 20 Mule Team and large sailing ship. He loved his Jeeps and loved to take Rachel out driving in the mountains when they lived in California. He also loved his Ford trucks.
Jerry and Rachel were members of the Alsbury Baptist Church in Burleson. They were active with the senior citizens Bible Class and enjoyed all the activities and the people they got to know.
Jerry and Rachel moved to the Heritage Assisted Living Center in April 2017 where he lived until he went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2022.
A visitation for Jerry will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX 76134.
A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX 76134.
A committal service will occur Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
