James Lawrence Wood

Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Internment: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

James Lawrence Wood was born in Fort Worth on June 4, 1924, to Zearl T. Wood and Ruth Hardeman Wood. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1941 and attended Texas Wesleyan College and North Texas Agricultural College until joining the Army Air Corps in 1943. In 1946, after completion of 33 months military service, he continued his education at TCU, graduating in 1947. He married Genevieve Sullivan on May 6, 1948, in Fort Worth. James worked a career at Texas Electric Service Co. retiring in June 1986 after 38 years. He was a longtime member of Trinity Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, Genny Wood; son, Eliot Wood; and brother, Truman Wood.

Survivors: Son, Lee Wood of Fort Worth; daughter, Elaine Roeger and husband, Rick, of Garland; grandsons, Rusty, Kent and Colin Roeger; as well as may beloved family members and friends.
