James Obadiah Williams was born on April 17, 1969, in Binghamton, NY. A graduate of the Binghamton High School Class of 1987, he took his higher education at Michigan State University and later moved to Georgetown, studying for a dual degree in International Law and Finance. However, his unceasing curiosity soon found him in the world of international business.
Obi was a relentless innovator with a smile and a twinkle in his eye that would light up any room.
*. He had a paper route at age 12.
*. He was a dedicated student of law at Binghamton High School, and his mock trial, Kramer vs. Kramer was aired on PBS.
*. He was a star athlete when during his senior year his team won the New York State championships for baseball, basketball and football.
* He was a phlebotomist while in university.
*. He was on Let's Make a Deal and won a refrigerator/freezer.
Obi was a voracious reader, soaking all the knowledge he could but most of all he had a brilliant memory and could recall verbatim conversations that had taken place years before. He took on a personal tutor while living in Japan and learned to speak and write the difficult Japanese language.
For 10 years, Obi lived and worked in Asia where he grew his business process outsourcing company, WDC, Int'l. He traveled around the world, twice, and on one of his business travels met and later married his wife, Agnes. They finally settled in Fort Worth, TX. There he went back to a profession he was most passionate of, laboratory medicine. Obi was most proud of his laboratory, Mobile Medical Examiners.
A wood worker, he created clocks, cheeseboards, coasters to gift family and friends but wait, for his home, he even made furniture, custom walls and most recently a sliding wood door. His appetite to innovate and create could not be contained - Hug-a-P, a plush toy pillow that gave hugs and played recorded messages, natural sanitizing products infused with nanoparticles, Yodoc, a for-home-use compact system that could test blood and urine complete with results. The most recent project was the Box Truck, a one-person assembly pick-up truck accessory.
Proudly and valiantly, Obi beat his cancer diagnosis of multiple myeloma through chemotherapy, bone marrow harvest, stem cell transplant and more chemotherapy over 4 years. During all of the years of treatment and dialysis, he focused on the future and the fulfillment of the life he was creating for his family.
Obi cherished his wife, Agnes. Obi loved God, his family and extensive family tree, and his friends; and without question was there for each of them.
Obi lived in joy and was beckoned on April 9, 2025 for his Heavenly adventure! He will be greatly missed!!!
