Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, February 14th at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, located at 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, TX, 76112. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 15th with Elder Michael Montgomery of Old School Primitive Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
James was born in Teague, TX to James Alvis and Betty Jo White on December 25, 1946. He went to school at Fort Worth Christian Academy. He married Nelda Rose Phillips on July 8, 1966 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army and was awarded The National Defense Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, and The Vietnam Campaign Medal. After he was honorably discharged from the military, he joined the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department in 1973. He retired in 1999 after 26 years of service with the rank of Major. He was a member of the local VFW and Handley Baptist Church. He received various awards and accommodations throughout his career from the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department and the Tarrant County Commissioners Office.
James always enjoyed bowling and hiking. On Saturday mornings, you could find him in the kitchen cooking breakfast for his entire family. He enjoyed being around his family and he had a special place in his heart for spending time with his grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty White and his son, James Neil Jr.
James is survived by his wife, Nelda; Lori, wife of late son James Neil Jr., son, Phillip and spouse Glenda, son, David and spouse Margarete; six grandchildren, Kristina Morris, Nathan White, Joshua White, Gage White, Gavan White and Gillian White, and four great grandchildren, Lonnie Rogers, Kora White, Allie White and Braxton Morris.
Pallbearers will be John FitzSimon, Jeremy Martin, Nathan White, Joshua White, Gage White and Gavan White.
Memorials may be given to Nelda White. Nelda White wishes to extend her sincere thanks to Baylor Hospital, Kindred Hospital of Fort Worth, Ambra-ICU nurse at Kindred Hospital, Community Hospice, Old School Primitive Baptist Church for all prayers and support, all of her family and for the support that was given, and Jeremy for always making him laugh.
