James Clinton Skiles, known to most as Jim, was born in Belton, TX on April 27, 1943. He passed away peacefully with his three daughters by his side on April 26, 2023 – one day shy of his 80th Birthday.
Jim graduated from Belton High School and started his career with Texas Consumer Finance. He went on to work at Ford Motor Credit, and eventually retired from AmeriCredit GMC after 24 years of service. Jim was a simple man whose best times were spent fishing, grilling, working in his yard or sitting outside on his patio with family and friends. Jim was a loving and patient father who enjoyed cooking for his family, especially his world-famous Sunday pot roast! Jim not only gave generously of what he had, but who he was.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Vesta Estell Anderson and Chester Clinton Skiles. He is survived by his sisters, Wanda Tackett and Vesta (Darryl) Bullock, his three daughters, Laurie (John) McCaleb, Shari (Jay) Cook, Julie (Mitchell) Green, and grandchildren Jacob (Robin) Cook, Aly Green, Hannah Cook and his former wife Dee Shelton as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. He will be loved and cherished by all who knew him.
A visitation for James will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Laurel Land FH - Ft Worth, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134. A funeral service will occur Monday, May 1, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134. A committal service will occur Monday, May 1, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Laurel Land Memorial Park - FW, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134.
