James Darnell Sr.

James Darnell Sr., age 57, of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021. James was born August 10, 1963 in Fort Worth, Texas, to the parentage of Otis Darnell and Cora Lee Gentry. James attended the Fort Worth Independent School District and was a graduate of O.D. Wyatt High School class of 1981. After graduation, James met the most beautiful person, Elaine Grant and married on January 10, 1985 and to this union Taheera, Jamaal, Jamillah and James L. Darnell, II were born. After marriage, James enlisted in the United States Army on February 18, 1986 and was discharged as Private First Class on September 11, 1987. After returning to Fort Worth, he was employed with Dish Network as a Communication Tech where he worked for many years retiring in 2013. James loved singing, bowling, playing dominoes, volleyball and watching sports. He also enjoyed family activities and playing video games with the kids. James is now welcomed to the Heavenly realm by his mother, Cora Lee Gentry and brothers, Frank Gentry and Paul Darnell. Those who remain to cherish his precious memories are his father, Reverend Otis Darnell; children, Taheera, Darnell, Jamaal Darnell and James L. Darnell, II; sisters, Helen Gentry Anderson and Ericka Darnell; brothers, Darryl Gentry, Ricky Charles Gentry, Ronald Gentry, Gregry Don Gentry, Douglas Darnell and Tony Curry; grandchildren, Pierre Blackman, Jr., Cyril Blackman, Jiraiya Blackmn, Chloe Flores, Goddess-Kasi Darnell, Maniyah Thomas and Kaysen Darnell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
