James Haywood Burney

James Haywood Burney passed away on November 7, 2021 at age 58 in a single car accident in Marble Falls, Texas. He was born in San Angelo on January 25, 1963, and he was a current resident of Marble Falls. Jay was married to his best friend, Sonya, who he married June 15, 1991. They have two children, Justyn and Hannah, who he affectionately referred to as “Bubba” and “Baby Girl”. He was currently Vice President of NDS Construction an arm of Parham Group, the last 5 years of his 40+ years in the industry being with NDS Construction. Jay enjoyed camping with his family, hunting, and spending time with his dogs. Over the last several years grilling became a favorite pastime, specifically his pot roast on the Traeger. His favorite TV shows included almost anything on the History Channel, Discovery, or most recently the ID channel.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Richard Burney; brother, Bradley Burney; grandfather William Haywood Bradley; and aunt Connie Barrington. SURVIVORS: Wife of over 30 years, Sonya McCuen Burney; children Justyn Haywood Burney, Hannah Burney; mother Cynthia Burney; sister, Melissa Burney; grandmother Wilma Bradley; sister-in-law Joanna Burney; sister-in-law Terri McCuen Gaber (Travis); sister-in-law Tammy McCuen; nieces and nephews Joshua Burney, Shiloh Barton (Kade), Jacob Burney, Shelby Powell (Jacob); great nieces and nephews Cheyenne Burney, Knox Barton, Kyler Burney, Siena Powell; cousins Donna Mulcahy (Patrick), Chance Young, Whitney Barrington; their dogs Loki Max and Mindy Lou; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Tuesday, November 16th from 6-8pm at Laurel Land, 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, Tx 76134.

Funeral: Wednesday, November 17th at 11am at Laurel Land, 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, Tx 76134. Interment; Everman Cemetery.
