Trey, Michael, and Patty, I’m sorry I just found out that Jack had passed away.  Jack gave me my first opportunity in funeral service while I was a student at TCU.  I liked and respected him very much, and I believe he was a classmate of my dad at Dallas Institute.  I also did not know that you had lost Pat, too.  She was a high school classmate of my mom, Virginia Platt, and they attended Texas Tech together.  My thoughts and prayers are with each of you, and you are blessed to have a wonderful family.

My condolences to Mr. Shannon's family.  Both of my parents were residents at Clarebridge, and Mr. Shannon  was often the highlight of visits with them.  He still had his great singing voice the last time I saw him in 2020.  He was always up for a song,  chat or a shout of encouragement.  I have missed telling him "Adiós Jack" when I was leaving Clarebridge after a visit.  His welcome to heaven will surely be a wonderful celebration, and he will be told "well done, good and faithful servant"  by our Savior Jesus!

The Briley family shares our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Jack Shannon.  You probably don't know us, but our mom was also an Alzheimer's patient and a "neighbor" resident in Brookdale Claire Bridge.  Maybe someday we can share stories of our days there.  I'm sure we crossed paths there on several occasions.  During those months of Mama's care there, I watched Mr. Shannon sing, clap and entertain not only himself, but those around him.  Despite his dementia, it was amazing to observe the recall he had in music!  I even joined him in song a few times.  

Our mom passed away in early '21 and I didn't see Mr. Shannon again until last summer when my grandsons and I joined a little ministry to bring cuddly puppies to Brookdale as a vehicle of therapy to the residents.  It usually took a little coaxing to convince Mr Shannon that we didn't need him to ADOPT the puppy, just to PET the cuddly guy; but, as soon as he touched the puppy, he understood and he really enjoyed it.  On the contrary, it usually did NOT require any coaxing on our part to convince him to sing us a song!  I'm a lover of music, too, and, on more than one occasion, I sang along with him (when I knew the words to his lively tunes!).  Little did I know that when we sang together on Feb. 15 that it would be my last opportunity to do so! 

I've read about Mr. Shannon's life and he was quite a businessman, civic leader and servant!  Today l learned that many years ago he was the first one to build a house in my beloved neighborhood.  It's definitely a small world!

I'm thankful I had the opportunity to get to know Mr. Shannon, even if it was in his latter days.   God bless you and we'll pray for your healing!

Mr. Shannon is preceded in death by his wife Pat Shannon. Mr. Shannon is survived by his sons, Trey Shannon of Fort Worth, TX, Mike Shannon (Gayla) of Fort Worth, TX and daughter Patty Fenoglio (Richard)of Lynden, WA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Stefanie Shannon Nielson (Kent) of Dallas, TX, Carolyn Shannon Jones (Kristoffer) of Hallsville, TX, Nathan Fenoglio (Betsy) of Fort Worth. TX, Kara Fenoglio Boldt (Jon) of Ferndale, WA, and Alec Shannon of Fort Worth, TX., Great Grandchildren, Malcolm Nielson and Ramsey Nielson, Jaxson Jones, Conner Jones and Gracie Jones, Kali Fenoglio and Beatrix Fenoglio, and Eleanor Boldt, Lily Boldt, Henry Boldt and Max Boldt.
