Humberto was born on November 2, 1946, to Maximo Martinez and Maria de Jesus Martinez in Falfurrias, TX. He was lucky enough to meet and marry Siboney and they would have celebrated their 54th anniversary this July. They had two amazing children, Hector and Cristina, who went on to marry spectacular people, Denise and Bobby. In the tradition of their parents and grandparents, Hector and Cristina went on to provide Humberto with unique grandchildren: Vincent, Samuel, Maximo, and bonus granddaughters Kailey and Olivia. Humberto loved spending time with the kids and engaged in activities such as Easter egg painting, playful banter, long walks, and Nerf gun fights.
He grew up a hard worker and even after retiring from the Federal Highway Administration he continued to work hard taking care of his home, cars, dogs and sharing his wisdom through lengthy emails. His intelligence and witty repertoire will be greatly missed. He was good trouble and many people will never know how he impacted the community as his way was to do the right thing and not take credit. He loved people and continued to engage in discussions to understand where people were coming from. He also respected the animals and land through many years of observance.
Humberto was predeceased by Lupe Martinez (brother), his parents, and Armando Lopez (cousin and brother from another mother). He is survived by those previously mentioned, Maximo Martinez (brother) and many more family members and friends that will never forget him and will honor his memory.
A memorial in Fort Worth will be held and one in South Texas but not during this Texas heat. We want to enjoy and celebrate his life and will let people know via email, text, and Facebook when plans have been made. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of North Texas www.hsnt.org/donate
