Huey Renard Smith was born November 19, 1963, to the parents, of Huey P. Smith and Dorothy L. Smith. Huey was the youngest of four children. He attended D. McRae Elementary, Meadowbrook Middle, and later graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1982. He began attending church at an early age. In 1986, he began working for The City of Fort Worth Water Department where he remained for 15 years. Huey was a member of The Rising Star Baptist Church all his life where he was active in, Gate Keepers, Bible Study, Men's Ministry, Usher Groups, and Sunday School. Huey was preceded in death by his father, Huey P. Smith; and brother, Harold Smith. He is survived by his son, Dayton Cotton; his mother Dorothy Smith; brother, Calvin Smith and sister, Denise Smith; two grandchildren, Chloe Cotton and Dacai Cotton; two bonus children he added to as well as they to him, Dereck Cotton (Dereck Cotton, Jr) and Tanya Jones; as well as a host of close friends and relatives.
