Helen Jeanette Brown Kennard, age 72, of Fort Worth, Texas fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday October 29, 2019. Helen was born May 29, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Mrs. Artie Mae Carter. She attended schools in the Fort Worth Independent School District which were all in her neighborhood. After relocating to Long Beach, California she continued her education. In 1963 she met and married James Thomas Kennard and later moved to California to this union four lovely daughters were born. Helen worked for Huck Manufacturing Company in California as a Carbined Dye Maker for twenty years. Helen was a faithful and active member of Saint Vestal African Methodist Episcopal Church in California where she served for many years on the Nurse's Aide Board. After returning to Fort Worth in 2002, she rejoined Saint James African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she gave her life to Christ as a young child. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Society, a weekly attendee to Sunday Worship Services and Wednesday night Bible Study. She was also a member of the Reach Out Ministry at the Church. The Reach Out Ministry helped those in need in the Community, some she loved to do. Helen also became actively involved with the Senior Citizen Center. She was the designated driver for Seniors who did not have transportation to the Center. She was always willing to help others, whether it was cooking or driving. She helped others until her health did not permit her to do so. It was no secret; she was an excellent cook and would often share her culinary skills with others at the Center and those in her Neighborhood. Her famous signature and most requested dish was "Chicken Abobe." Helen Jeanette transitioned to her heavenly home on October 29, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents, a sister, two brothers and daughter Doressa Kennard Wallace. LEFT IN GOD CARE; her beloved daughters, Glenda Kennard Swanigan (Brian), Melodie Kennard Anderson (Robert) and Denina Soloman; brother, Joe Wayne Carter (Ruby); sisters, Doris Smith (Michael) and Delores Silman (Vincent); 5 grandchildren; Ryan, Daniel, Sr., Nicara, Anique, Darrien; 6 great grandchildren; Gwendolyn, Jaylen, Amir, Nynah, Daniel, Jr. and Rylan; uncle, James Brown, Sr. nephews, nieces; Best friend and traveling companion Carmen Delgado, close friend Ted Willis and a host of other relatives and close friends.
