Irvin attended Texas Tech University 1947-1949. During the summer of 1949, he went to work at Leonard Bros Department Store in Fort Worth where he met a pretty young lady who became his wife in 1950, Mae Gibbs Dickey. They were blessed with 3 children Vickie Dickey Thompson, Terry Dickey Paschal and Ronney Dickey. They were married for 54 years.
Irvin was in the auto parts business at various auto/truck parts stores in Fort Worth until he bought Schooler Automotive in 1970. He retired in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 3 brothers and a great granddaughter.
He is survived by daughters Vickie (Jerry) Thompson, Terry (Rodney) Paschal and son Ronney (Debbie) Dickey. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and a brother, Charley (Paula) Dickey.
