Glenn Ernest Emmett, 96, of Fort Worth died November 9th, 2020 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born April 2, 1924 in Vernon, Texas to Willie Ernest Emmett and Mattie Lou Mason Emmett.
Glenn served in the United States Air Force as a Radio Operator on the “Reddy Teddy,” a B-29 in the Pacific during World War II. After the War he attended Texas Tech where he earned a Petroleum Engineering degree. He retired from the United States Treasury Department as a Petroleum Engineer with 35 years of service.
He enjoyed his retirement years cruising to his favorite destination, Alaska. It was not uncommon for he and Faye to make multiple trips in the summer to avoid the Texas heat. During the winter he was willing to hit the slopes, if he could find someone to travel with him. He finally retired his skis at the age of 85.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Leatha Faye Emmett of Fort Worth, sons Lane Emmett and wife Mickie of Port Neches, Texas and Dr. Trent Emmett and wife Jackie of Abilene, Texas.
Additional survivors are three step-daughters, Dr. Elaine Sidawi and husband Ghassan of Lake Whitney, Texas, Susan Walker and husband Kyle of Memphis, Tennessee, and Karen Smith and husband Walt of Fort Worth, five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Esther Emmett, his parents Ernest and Mattie Lou Emmett, and a brother Lowell Emmett.
