GILA RUTH HOLMAN

Parents were Sallie Dale House and Albert Guice Place of Birth Houston County, Crockett, Texas.

Formal Education in the Texas Public School System through grade school. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Texas Southern University and her Master's Degree from North Texas State University.

She enjoyed a wonderful and dedicated teaching career of over 44 years in the Texas and California public school systems, proudly and honorably retiring in 2001.

She married W. D. Holman on August 12, 1972. They were married 43 years before his passing. There were no children born to them.

She confessed her hope in Jesus Christ at an early age. She served tirelessly at the Berea Baptist Church, Berea, Texas and also at the Castle Rock Church in Riverside, California. Upon moving to take care of her sister, Ms. Washington, she joined the New Mount Calvary Baptist Church here in Fort Worth.

She served as a deaconess, a Sunday School, Training Union and Vacation Bible School teacher, on the Mother Board, and Missionary Society officer and member. Her hobbies included organizing games and activities for children, cooking, traveling, completing art projects, and hosting get-togethers,

She passed on Monday, January 24, 2022 after a short hospital stay.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. D. Holman,

her brothers; Wayman Guice, Elmer Guice, Kenneth Guice, Lew J. Guice, Willie Dash Guice, and Henry Columbus Guice. her sisters; Johnie Mae Nealy, Bennie Smith Wilson, Albertine Washington, and Sallie Serene Franklin, Left to cherish her memory are Her daughter, Jacqueline Toomer and husband, Elmore Toomer Her stepson, Willis Holman Her stepdaughter, Debra Finley Her devoted nephews, Morris Mitchell Smith Rev. Randy Franklin 9 grandchildren; Sean, Eric, Brittany, Yusef, Semiya, Ava, LaNyna, Kareem, and Tanchel; 4 great grandchildren; Host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
