Edyne was born on June 14, 1934, to Ed and Crystal Miller in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She moved to Vernon, Texas in the sixth grade, first meeting and claiming her sweetheart, Duane Blair, at that time. She graduated from Vernon High School in 1952, where she was a favorite, excelling in numerous activities, including academic honors, chorus and yearbook editor. She attended Abilene Christian College, where she was chosen a favorite and beauty by her peers, working in the bursar’s (business) office to support her education.
She married the love of her life, Duane Blair, in 1954, following her sophomore college year. She continued to work at ACC and pursue her business degree until Duane’s 1956 graduation from Hardin Simmons University. She followed her husband to Massachusetts and Kenai, Alaska, as Duane served two years active duty as an officer in the Army Security Agency. Their first child, Marcris, was born in Alaska before they ultimately made their home in Fort Worth.
Edyne worked for Rosemont Church of Christ as church secretary for 35 years, retiring in 2008 when the church facilities and finances were donated for Hispanic ministry. Longtime member of Rosemont, she tirelessly taught fourth grade Sunday School and sang in the chorus, while supporting her husband who served as Elder for 25 years. She was a member of Southside Church of Christ at the time of her death.
Edyne prized faith and family above all, dedicating her life to God, family and church. She fully embodied the attributes of a virtuous woman as described by King Solomon in Proverbs 31, living her life with purpose, diligence, forgiveness and repentance. Clothed with strength and dignity, Edyne possessed a sweet spirit and servant heart, constantly demonstrating care and compassion for others in her daily life. Outside of church, her life was devoted to raising her children and nurturing her seven grandchildren, who called her “Mamie”. She had no time for hobbies; her time was consumed with cherishing and guiding her grandchildren and attending their every activity. They were the joy of her later life.
Edyne was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Duane, and brother, Gene Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Marcris Jan Ketchersid and husband, Joey, and their daughter, Kirsten, of Argyle; her son, Kevin Duane Blair and wife Kim, and their four children, Kylie (Brett) Caraway, Jonathan, Jaxon and Jaeger of New Braunfels; and her youngest son, Kasey Dane Blair and wife Julie, and their daughters, Brittan and Brooklin of Keller.
