Rev. George Edward Tennison, age 77, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 28, 2016. He was born January 8, 1939, in Troup, Texas. The son of Elmer Lee Tennison and Martha Jane Castleberry Tennison. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Katie Carter Tennison, and father to his children. He was licensed to preach the Gospel in 1975 by Rev. Walter Lee Sanders, Sr. He pastored Rosehill Baptist Church, and later retired from the ministry. While in retirement he joined Bible Way Baptist Church with Pastor L.W. Walker and Rev. Paul Loving. He retired from Central Freight Lines after 25 plus years as a local freight truck driver until 1999. He received many awards from Central Freight Lines. He loved his family especially brother, Love Tennison, Sr.. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepson, Kenneth Stephen Carter; his grandparents, Lit Castleberry and Lisa Castleberry; his children’s mother, Annie B. Tennison; sisters, Karetha “Fis” Vales and Ernestine Williams; brothers, Rev. Raymond Tennison, W.C. Tennison, Willard Tennison and Leon Tennison. He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his wife, Katie Ray Carter Tennison of Fort Worth, Texas; daughters, Dianna “Rita” Howard of Anchorage, Alaska, and Georgia Marie Taylor of Fort Worth, Texas; stepsons, Roger Gerald Carter of Fort Worth, Texas, and James Heckard, Jr. (Jaylen, Haiden, Jaiden and Joseph) and wife, Cambrai of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Layunscae “Lance” Germaine Howard, and Jason “Jae” Jamal Howard of Anchorage, Alaska, Jajaun “Juan” Dontae Taylor and Gianna Marie Randle of Fort Worth, Texas; great-grandchildren, Dacota Germaine Howard and Dekiah Rayenne Howard of Anchorage, Alaska, and Da’Marion Amir Taylor of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Rev. Elretha “Pat” Oneal Thompson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Alrese “Lolly” Franklin of Jacksonville, Texas; brothers, Walter Lee “Charlie” Tennison (Capri), Love Tennison, Sr. (Mildred), and L.T. “T-bone” Tennison all of Fort Worth, Texas; nephews, Love Tennison, Jr., Rev. Rick Tennison Akbar, Timothy Tennison, Anthony Tennison, Celzin Stephen and many more; nieces, Mildred Denise Johnson, Brenda Tennison and many more; all of his Castleberry family; friends from Central Freight Lines of Fort Worth, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
