George “Terry” Shada, passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2023 at the age of 73, due to heart complications. Although this loss was sudden, his final moments were spent peacefully surrounded by his family.
He was born February 26, 1949, Terry started life with a tough childhood and a wild youth, but in 1973 his life changed with two events that would last through his remaining 50 years: marriage to the love of his life, Lisa Shada, and his career as a utility contractor.
At some point during his career, he was likely responsible for burying the telephone line to your house, or for cutting your sprinkler line. Driving around Fort Worth with Terry was always filled with stories about the jobs he had done. “I pulled the line in over at that building” or “I stepped into water in a manhole near the Fort Worth library and went in over my head”. His stories usually ended with an exasperated “I mean…” or “you wouldn’t believe…”. Terry’s experience was gained through years of hard work which he gladly did to provide the best life possible for his family.
A devoted husband and father, Terry’s life always revolved around his wife and kids. In his children’s younger years Terry could be found on the sidelines coaching soccer, cheering in the stands, or wherever his family needed in times of triumph and in need. He could also be seen going big during all the holidays, whether it was dressing as Santa at Christmas, Fourth of July parades, or scaring the daylights out of kids at Halloween, Terry was always entertaining. This dedication never wavered even as his family grew from children to great-grandchildren.
Terry was full of energy and lived his life to the fullest. Between vacations to Paris and Hawaii, countless weekends camping and jet skiing with his best friends, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or planting and maintaining beautiful gardens of vegetables and flowers, there was never a dull moment.
Throughout his years, Terry touched so many people’s lives in a positive way. He was always quick with a joke and easy with a laugh that would bring joy to anyone, from lifelong friends to strangers at the grocery store. Everyone knew Terry for his wild sense of humor and a grin so bright it couldn’t even be hidden by his truly impressive signature mustache.
Of course, you can’t complete a description of Terry without mentioning the love he had for his wife, Lisa. Their love was endless and is the reason for all the best parts of his life. Terry never let a day pass without providing Lisa with all the love and affection he had. His passing is a tragic loss that will somehow still leave us all smiling from the memories.
Terry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lisa Shada, their children, Ryan Shada and wife, Amy Shada, Georgana Shada, and Amelia Headden and husband, Nathan Headden; grandchildren, Mason Horne and wife, Hunter Horne, Olivia McCaughey, Ava Magallan, Andrew Magallan, Ella Magallan, and Evan Magallan; great-grandchildren, Ace Pack and Harper Pack; and brother, Clayton Shada as well as countless family and friends all over Texas and in Nebraska.
