On the 2nd day of July in the year of 1933, Arthur and Sarah Johnson were blessed with their 2nd child of 9 children, George L. in Greenwood Louisiana.
As a young man George was often seen in Church (Union Baptist in Waskom),was very active in school, participating in sports and social events, all while helping his family maintain the farm. In 1954 George graduated from Central High School in Waskom, Texas. Shortly after graduation he was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served his country for 10 years and was honorably discharged.
Moving forward in time on November 7,1968 George and his 2 children married Myrtle Hughes Polk and her 3 children and the two families bonded immediately and became one. To this union one son
(Craig) was born.
George continued his career with the government working for the United States Postal Service where he was an active member of the Postal Union. George traveled and spent countless hours in the office to save jobs and change the working conditions for the Mail Handlers. He enjoyed the people he worked with as well as his job responsibilities. After retiring from the Post office, George continued his willingness to help in the community, supporting numerous charities, very generous to doing God's work, and above all he took excellent care of his family.
