Dr. George Cestaro, Jr., passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, at the age of 83 in Texas. Born in New York in 1940, George lived a life of deep dedication to his family, his country, and his profession.
He earned his Bachelor's degree from St. Michael's College in Burlington, Vermont, and went on to obtain his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York Downstate. His early career was marked by his service as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy here and abroad, a role he carried out with honor and pride.
For over 45 years, Dr. Cestaro served as a family practice physician in Orlando, Florida, where he became a trusted and beloved figure in his community. His compassion, knowledge, and dedication to patient care made him a respected and cherished doctor to countless individuals and families.
George is survived by his loving wife Joan, his three cherished children, Gregg (Monica), Lisa (Brian) and Michael (Phuong), five adoring grandchildren, Danielle, Landon, Alina, Alex and Kira, his brother Victor (Ursula), and his beloved dog Louie, all of whom will forever carry his memory in their hearts. His family was his greatest joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and warmth that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.George was preceded in death by his father, George Sr and his mother, Mary.
George had a passion for traveling, both here at home and abroad, eager to explore new places and experiences different cultures.Italy held a special place in his heart. George’s love for the beach was unmatched, often finding peace and joy with the sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun.George also had a passion for sports, and he enjoyed sharing these moments with family and friends cheering on his favorite teams.His pride in watching his grandson play baseball brought him immense joy. George was also a proud patriot who loved his country immensely, and he valued the freedoms and principles it stands for. His faith was his foundation of his life, and his unwavering faith in Jesus guided him through life. His love and commitment to God were evident in the way he lived, with kindness, humility and generosity towards others. George cherished his family, who were the center of his world. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
A private service with family and friends will be held in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity close to your heart or to St. Anne's Anglican Church in Fort Worth, Texas in George’s memory. His life was a testament to the power of care, and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
