Fred was born and raised in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he met the love of his life Sue Covington who he was married for 53 years. They moved to Euless, Texas, where they had two children, Lori McDonald Mehlin and Billy McDonald. Fred worked for 31 years with the Hurst Euless Bedford School district before retiring in 2015. He was most proud of his kids and coached Lori’s softball team for many years during her childhood and restored cars with Billy, leading Billy to be one of the best mechanics you’ll ever meet. Fred was a kind man who never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back.
Freddy was predeceased by his father, Jessie McDonald, his mother, Pauline Gillespie, brothers Joe and Ed McDonald, and Mary Sue Marcotte.
He is survived by his wife, Sue. His daughter, Lori (Marc), and his son Billy (Jennifer), grandsons Cristopher and Grayson and granddaughters Madison and Taylor (Jeremiah), and great-grandson, Alexander. He is also survived by his sister Peggy Williams and many more extended family members and friends.
He was a member of the Castleberry Baptist Church, and in lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Fred’s favorite missionary Mike Napper at 10-40project.org.
There will be a celebration of life at Texas Star Conference Centre,1400 Texas Star Parkway, Euless, Texas, on Monday, February 13th, 2023, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
