Evelyn will be laid to rest at Laurel Land Cemetery at a private graveside service in late January.
Born to George and Essie Praytor, Evelyn grew up in a Christian family. She never wanted for anything, even during the depression.
Evelyn graduated from North Side High School in 1938 and began her career as a secretary. By the mid-forties she was the payroll clerk for Fort Worth ISD. She took a break in employment to raise her children before working as a preschool teacher at the Methodist church and later as a receptionist at TCU. Evelyn had many talents and was a success at whatever she did.
Evelyn’s top priority was always family. She married the love of her life, Windell Anderson, who cherished her for 66 years. They created a loving home for their two daughters, Linda and Susan. She considered it her mission in life to give sagely advice to all family members.
Evelyn was a charter member of Genesis United Methodist Church. She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi, where she served in several offices. Evelyn and Windell enjoyed cruising and traveling to many parts of the world. She loved playing cards and board games – and winning. She was an avid fan of the Cowboys and the Horned Frogs and always watched their games.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Windell, parents George and Essie Praytor, sister Fay Benson, and great-grandchild William Cantrell-Paulson.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters Linda Schmidt (Rally) and Susan Whisenhunt; grandchildren Claire Cantrell-Paulson (Wesley), Rachel Whisenhunt (Patrick), and Steffan Schmidt (Kristina); great-grandson Jack Cantrell-Paulson; and many nieces and nephews.
