On December 24, 1946 a beautiful baby girl was born to Mr. Frank Dowell and Mrs. Ora Dowell in Kaufman, Texas. This bouncing baby girl would be named Eva Mae Dowell, the seventh child of fourteen children.
As a young lady Eva attended Kemp Independent School District from elementary thru intermediate school. Later on Eva would attend St. Paul where she graduated High School. Eva met her knight in shining armor, Mr. L.C. Coleman. They became as one on February 19, 1966. To this union 4 children were born, Micheal Roy Coleman, Brenda Coleman, Lisa Coleman and Rogenia Coleman. Micheal Roy Coleman passed shortly after birth.
Eva was introduced to Christ at an early age. Eva’s Christian journey started in Peeltown, Texas at Zion Travelers Baptist Church. Years later Mr. L. C. and Eva Coleman and their children moved to Fort Worth, Texas where they became members at Greater Hope Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Lionnie Johnson. Eva was a faithful servant for the Lord, wherever she could serve she was there. From serving in the Senior Choir, BTU and the Women’s Mission at Greater Hope Baptist Church. Then a few years later God called Eva’s younger brother the late Pastor Robert E. Dowell, SR. into the ministry. Eva loved her brother dearly from being a member at Macedonia Baptist Church to her final church home at Greater Eleazer Baptist Church where she was a member for 33 years under her late Pastor Robert E. Dowell, SR. to her present Pastor, Lawrence R. Barrett whom she loved dearly.
Eva didn’t only service in the church, she served as a faithful employee at Curtis Matis and Ramada Hotel for years. Eva was a dedicated wife for 54 years until her beloved husband passed away on March 26, 2020. Eva continued her life’s journey for 3 more years after her beloved husband passed. Eva was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in December of 2022, she fought a long hard fight. Eva kept the faith and stood strong until the very end. Eva passed peacefully on July 4, 2023 with all her loved ones surrounded by her side.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. L. C. Coleman; son, Micheal Roy Coleman; parents, Mr. Frank Dowell and Mrs. Ora Mae Dowell; 8 brothers, Jimmy Dowell, Willie Dowell, Nathaniel Dowell, Jessie Dowell, Charlie Dowell, James Dowell, David Dowell and The late Pastor Robert E.
