Emmitt Johnson Jr. (EJ) was born August 9, 1947 in Navasota, Texas. He was the third of nine children born to Emmitt Johnson Sr. and Mary E. Johnson.
Emmitt Jr. attended G.W. Carver High School and graduated in 1966
Upon graduation, Emmitt Jr. attended Prairie View A&M University
He moved to Ft. Worth, TX in 1968 where he met and married the love of his life Vergia Jones on March 31, 1969. With this union he was blessed with 3 children.
In 1978, he attended and graduated from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Trade Union Program.
Emmitt Jr. owned and managed EJ Notary and Tax Service and was an enrolled agent license tax preparer with the I.R.S. for 50 years. He also worked for the City of Ft. Worth and Arlington.
He had a passion for antique cars and sports. He was a referee and member of the Ft. Worth Basketball Officials for 35 years.
At an early age Emmitt Jr. committed his life to Christ as a member of Smryna SDA Church in Navasota, TX. Currently he’s a member of Grace Temple SDA Church.
Emmitt Jr. is preceded in death by his mother Mary Johnson and brother Freeman Johnson
He leaves to cherish his memories his father Emmitt Johnson Sr., his wife of 50 years Vergia Johnson; three children Kennedy Dennis, Kevin Johnson (Asia), and Natasha Gregg (Tony); four grandchildren: Valencia Johnson, Keeyana Johnson, Deja Gregg and Destiny Gregg; 2 brothers: Albert Johnson and Rogers Johnson (Dorothy) of Ft. Worth, TX.; 5 sisters: Ethelean Johnson of Navasota, Elanor Holiday (Roy) of Ft. Worth, TX, Mary Branford (Charles) of Houston, TX, Dorothy Harrison of College Station, TX and Drucessa Ireland (Cornelius) of Houston, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
