Emma Sue Bailey, age 75, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 20th, 2022. She was born to the late Hazel Gatewood and Leroy Mayberry on December 16th, 1946 in Covington, TX. Shortly thereafter, she and her parents moved to Itasca, TX where she was blessed with a loving, family-centered upbringing as the only girl in the family to five brothers. Emma enjoyed spending time with family, going to the movies and going dancing with friends. She spent her teenage years in Fort Worth, TX where she attended Como High School.
She had various jobs as a young adult but landed on a career at Tandy Leather Factory as an assembly worker until retirement. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was becoming a loving and devoted mother to two beautiful daughters.
Emma was a caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Being with family is what she enjoyed most. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a grandmother.
She was known for her quick-witted humor, loving nature and ability to make others laugh. She was a strong and courageous woman whose strength and resilience will forever be remembered by those who love her.
Emma had an unwavering faith in God that only grew stronger in her final years of life. One of her favorite pastimes was reading the bible and writing her favorite scriptures in her journal. She became a member at Pleasant Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Como, TX, and remained a faithful servant of the Lord until her untimely passing.
Emma was preceded in death by her mother Hazel Gatewood, her father Leroy Mayberry, and brothers Leroy Mayberry Jr, Reginald Ellison, and Anthony Ray Caraway.
She is survived by two daughters Shonda Mayberry and Rhonda Davis (Kenneth); brothers Curtis Ellison, Terry Ellison, Kelvin Mayberry, and Terry Mayberry; grandchildren Saquarius Mayberry, Corey Mayberry (Antwonette), Ebony Mayberry, Monique Walker, and Destiny Mayberry, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
