Ella Lou Pettit McDaniel

In August of 1949, Lou married the love of her life, Calvin L. Pettit of Throckmorton, TX. Calvin and Lou adopted two beautiful children- Marc Calvin Pettit (1956-2014) and Margaret Ann Pettit (1958-2012)- and raised their family in Fort Worth, TX. The couple were active members of Polytechnic United Methodist Church and later, Edge Park United Methodist Church.

Lou first began a career in photography in 1948. She attended Texas Wesleyan University where she received her teaching degree and later earned her Master’s in Education-Elementary School Supervision from North Texas State University. Lou was a Teacher as well as a Principal at various schools in the Fort Worth Independent School District for more than 30 years.

A graveside service will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth, TX on Tuesday, March 26th at 10am. A small memorial will be held for her afterwards at Edge Park United Methodist Church in Fort Worth.

Lou is preceded in death by her parents Jack Heald Sr. and Margaret (Corkill) Heald, sisters Catherine Heald Culbertson and Helen Heald Sellers, husbands Calvin L. Pettit and W.M. McDaniel, and children Marc Calvin Pettit and Margaret Ann Pettit. She is survived by her brother Jack Heald Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Tucson Arizona, Daughter-in-law Gay Pettit, grandchildren Marc Cavender, Robert Pettit, Brittney Cavender, Tyler Pettit, and Calvin James Prater as well as her great-grandsons
