Ella Mae Green-Biggins On July 1, 1932, a baby was born to the parents of Will and Cora Bell Green. “Corsicana, Texas, in Navarro County”. She confessed Christ at the age of 10 years old and was later baptized at the Hope Well Baptist Church in Rice, Texas. The family moved to Ennis, Texas, where she continued her faith in Christ. She united with New Hope Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. R.C. Crain. She continued her education at George Washington Carver Elementary and high school in Ennis, Texas. She met and married Nathaniel Biggins, September 30, 1950 in Waxahachie, Texas. To this union five children were born. In 1956, the family moved and located in Fort Worth, Texas. She united with Lee Ave. Baptist Church, and was faithful for 10 years. She later joined the new Hope Baptist Church family on January 1, 1972 under the leadership of Rev. Tillman Fields. She remained faithful and served wherever she was needed. She was the church secretary for more than 35 years, president of the senior and junior usher board, Sr. mission president, Sr. usher, asst. Sunday school teacher, choir member, youth director, announcing clerk, attended training union, and Sunday school secretary. She also attended New World Bible Institution, graduated with a Bachelor of Theology. She was employed with the Frank Kent family for 10 years. She also worked for Tandy Corporation for 27 years. She was Tandy’s switchboard operator for 17 years. She retired December 1979. Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Biggins Sr. of 63 years who passed in March of 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, David E. Biggins; brothers, Robert L. Green, O.B. Green, Willie Green; sisters, Ethel Hemphill, Effie Ware, Mary Lee Belton, Corrine Davis; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Green and Carrie William. Left to cherish Ella’s memories are her sons Nathaniel Green Biggins, Jr. (Guan), Wendell E. Biggins, Abbie J. Mills (James) Cindy K. Biggins Joseph; 10 grandchildren, Billy Ray Spriggins, Wanda Haywood, Akilah Green, Wendell E. Biggins Jr., Derrick Biggins, Regina Lynn Sherman, Bengy D. Sherman, Shonda C. Descaro, Caffery D. Joseph III, Brittney M. Jones; sister, Dorothy Ballard; God daughters, Evelyn Hunt and Ray Bell and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
