Covenant Place in Burleson, TX after struggling with dementia for several
years.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Pat Wassell; sons, Ron, Mike and Rob;
daughter, Melanie; grandsons, Brandon, Tyler, Collin, Brent, Derek and
Sean; granddaughters, Tara, Meghan, Tosha and Kiersten;
great-grandsons; Jaxson, Isaiah, Morgan, and Jacob;
great-granddaughters; Mirisa and Adori; daughters-in-law, Lisa and Shari;
granddaughters-in-law, Joyce, Annamarie, Lilly and Cindy.
Ed was born September 7, 1940 in Bayonne, NJ to Edward and Carolyn
Wassell. He was the 2nd of 7 children. Ed grew up in San Bernardino, CA
where he graduated from high school in June of 1958. Ed joined the Navy
in November of 1958 and became an Avionics Electronics Technician.
He met his wife, Pat, in December of 1959 and they were married June 4,
1960. Ed served in the US Navy until 1970 and later joined the US Coast
Guard in 1972. He had a distinguished career in both services receiving
many awards and commendations. He retired from the US Coast Guard in
August of 1981.
Ed served as a Deacon and Elder at Edgewood Avenue Christian Church
in Jacksonville, FL, Castle Hills Christian Church in San Antonio, TX, North
Austin Christian Church in Austin, TX and Believers Church in Leander, TX.
His love for Jesus and his desire to share the gospel with others was totally
a part of who he was.
Ed also loved square dancing, ballroom dancing, singing, playing games
and hanging out with family and friends.
The celebration of Ed's life will be at Believers Church (1650 Country Road 270 - Leander, TX 78641) on Wednesday, June 5 at 1:00 pm.
