Dudley Joseph LaJaunie

Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 pm Saturday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel.

Rosary and visitation will be in the Chapel of the Chimes at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth.

Dudley was born deep in the swamplands of Arnaudville, Louisiana in February of 1934 to Frank and Adele LaJaunie. During his formative years Dudley spoke fluent French. As the laws of Louisiana changed, requiring public schools to be taught in English, Dudley had to begin to learn his second language. He ran track while in high school and has a relay record that took over thirty years for someone to break. Dudley is a proud graduate of TCU. He married Rose LaJaunie in 1959 and they shared a wonderful marriage until her passing in 2014. Dudley volunteered some of his free time to the Knights of Columbus and was an honorary lifetime member. He served as past Grand Knight for council 2813. Dudley could be found playing golf. After most people found out how well he played, he wasn't asked as often. He was a member of The Hole in One Club and could have gone semi-pro had his life taken a different route. He spent time traveling; he worked for over 36 years at Lockheed and was fortunate to be able to travel with this job to many places including Egypt, Israel, Japan, Norway, Berlin and others. His love of cooking was shared with his coworkers and family alike, everyone was able to enjoy his traditional Cajun dishes during company events as well as family get togethers. His family raves about his gumbo.

He will join his wife of 55 years, Rose in Heaven as well as his parents and sons William Joseph LaJaunie and Roderick John LaJaunie.

Those left to honor his memory include: children, Linda Mullenix of Benbrook, Mike Mullenix of Weatherford, Mike LaJaunie and wife, Delores, of Fort Worth and Simone LaJaunie of Benbrook; brothers, Chester LaJaunie and wife Kim, Harold LaJaunie and wife Linda both of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, sister, Rita Courville of Henderson, Louisiana ; grandchildren, Michelle and husband, Mike Walls, of Weatherford, Monica and husband, Frank Sylvester, of Benbrook, Mike Mullenix Jr. of Benbrook, James LaJaunie of Fort Worth, Mollie and husband, Stephen Smith, of Crowley and Mary and husband, Ellery Davila, of Fort Worth; four great-grandchildren; extended family; and dear friends.
