FORT WORTH -- Dorothy Bonita Atkins Scott, a longtime educator in the Fort Worth Independent School District and socialite, traded this life on earth for a better life with the heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, in the comfort of her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Service: Mrs. Dorothy B. Scott's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at historic Polytechnic United Methodist Church, 1310 S. Collard at Rosedale on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University, Dr. Robert Flowers, host pastor, and the Rev. Ramon Smith of Morningside United Methodist Church, celebrant. Interment: Mrs. Scott will be laid to rest in the Garden of Charity in Cedar Hill Memorial Park alongside her beloved son, Michael, who preceded her in death in 2010. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church she loved dearly and she also was a charter member the Morningside United Methodist Church, 2860 Evans Ave.; at 6 p.m. her family, former students and her many friends will gather for a time of reflections and remembrance.
Survivors: She leaves in the caring hands of the Almighty God her grandchildren, Brenda Scott, Tommica Scott, Micheal Scott Jr. and Misty Lampkins; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, George Atkins Jr.; daughter-in-law, Tommie D. Scott; a host of former students, sorority sisters and church family; devoted sister-in-law, Johnnie Atkins; loving best friends, Lucille Black, Betty Dixon, James Timmons and Helen Grape; and other relatives and friends.
