Dorothy Francis Brockett

On the morning of Thursday, September 1, 2022, Dorothy Francis Brockett, loving mother of two daughters, passed away at the age of 89. Dorothy was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Vernie and Francis Popejoy in 1933.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Texas Wesleyan University and her master’s degree at The University of North Texas. Dorothy spent over 42 years teaching in the Fort Worth Public School District.

Dorothy had many hobbies in her life. She loved shopping with her daughter Tammy and taking art classes. Once she retired Dorothy enjoyed monthly luncheons and game dates with her sorority sisters and friends. She was an avid reader and really enjoyed mysteries and historical fiction. When Dorothy’s grandson Ethan was born he became the light of her life. She loved to play cars, board games and even the Nintendo Wii with him.

Dorothy was a kind, compassionate and intelligent woman who was loved greatly by family and friends.

She is survived by her sister Brenda, her daughters, Rebecca and Tammy, and Son in Law Michael Ross.
