Dora Alice Jones

She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1952; Paris Junior College in 1954; and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas State University in 1957. She received her Master of Education from Texas Christian University, in 1964.

A retired School Teacher, she was the first woman professional staff member hired in the 1960s by Texas State Teacher Association. She was a sweet and professional lady standing tall among all those men.

Her accomplishments were many, among them: Life member of National Education Association, Texas State Teacher Association, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, receiving a 50-year pin from Clarksville Eastern Star, and many other accomplishments. She was a loyal and faithful member of Couts United Methodist Church.

She married Vernon H. (Bud) Jones, April 13, 1974. He predeceased her July 11, 2005.

Her siblings: Kenneth Rose, Leonard Rose, Dan Rose, Virginia (Rose) Bowers, all preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Vernon (Butch) and Jan Jones, Pam and Clenton Collier, Charles (Chip) and Mary Jones; Sister-in-law Dorothy Rose, and many nieces and nephews; her Grandchildren: Dean and Robin Caldwell, Becky Bedinger, Abbie and Adam Payn, Emily Kenney, Cory and Tugce Jones, Katy and David Cecere, Claire and David Jimenez, Jody and Akisha Jones, Shelly and Matt Delahoussaye, Bridgette and Alan Smith, and Brandi and Rob Kelley, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 4, at Couts United Methodist Church, 802 N. Elm Street, Weatherford, TX, with interment to follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.

Bearers of her casket will be: Cory Jones, Dean Caldwell, Jody Jones, Danny Rose, Reed Rose and Hayden Rose. Honorary Pall Bearers will be members of her Emmaus Reunion Group:

Becky Bond, Eliza Utley, Patti Young, M. J. McDaniel, Mel Orcutt, and Jeane Weatherly (Friend and Caretaker for over a year).
