Donna ReNay (Abshire) Prater, 66, of Burleson, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 with her family by her side. Donna was born February 16, 1956 in Cleburne, Texas to Charlie and Susie Abshire. She grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Paschal High School in 1974. After attending Tarrant County Junior College, she went to work for the Fort Worth Star Telegram, then later for a Burleson title company.
Donna was married to Garry Prater, husband of 28 years, from October 16, 1982 until his passing in August of 2010. Donna valued family and loved to brag on her nieces and nephews. She was a loving and generous aunt and sister and will be greatly missed by all. Although she suffered with health problems and chronic pain from a very young age, she never complained or let it slow her down. She will always be remembered for her strength, fighting spirit, and feisty demeanor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garry, and her parents, Charlie and Susie Abshire.
She is survived by her sister Pam Eubanks and husband Roy; uncle, Jack Chaney; and her nieces and nephews, Brian Eubanks, Whitney Askew, Kevin Russell, and Robbi Jackson.
The family would like to thank the amazing nurses in the ICU at Texas Health Harris Hospital downtown, and the staff at Professional Caretakers for the wonderful care they provided this past year.
