Mr. David G Anderson

David Gene Anderson was born on a bridge on the way to Parkland Hospital to Sylvester and Hattie Anderson on November 18, 1945. He grew up and spent most of his life in Irving, Texas. David served in the National Guard where he learned his lifelong skill of welding. After his fathers death, he took over the family welding business, he worked at Bell Helicopter, then later worked independently for himself and many other businesses using his trade. One of his favorite jobs was working to repair and maintain a crane used to build AT&T Stadium.

He married his first wife Linda in his twenties and they had two children together. He later married Christine Atkins in 1992. They stayed in Irving for a time, then moved to the mid cites area where they have lived for the past twenty five years.

Some of his early hobbies included piloting small planes, riding dirt bikes, and traveling with family. He attended First Methodist Church in Irving, Texas for many years and served on multiple mission trips to Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and Eleuthera (Bahamas) where he assisted in remodeling churches and homes, and spreading the Word of God to others. David also volunteered often to build sets for the local Artisan Theater and enjoyed attending several productions there.

He is survived by his wife of over thirty years-Christine Anderson, daughter-Angie Mathews, son-Mike Anderson, step daughters- Dawn Shults, Melinda Dorrell, and Rachel Alfred, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Services will be held at First Methodist Church in Irving, Texas at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30. The family will receive guests for visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. The family asks for donations in David's honor to be given to the mission field of First Methodist Church in Irving, Texas.
