On Thursday, November 24, 2022, Dana Landon Sheriff, loving husband and father, passed away at age sixty-six. A fierce and dedicated patriot, Dana served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1995, retiring honorably as Tech Sergeant. He served through several wars, including Desert Shield and Desert Storm. As a highly decorated Special Operations Flight Engineer, Dana exhibited outstanding airmanship and professionalism while pioneering new flying tactics and procedures for use in desert warfare. He traveled the world with several different squadrons, upholding the tenants of the Air Force with respect and dedication.
Dana was above all else a dedicated and loving servant, not just to his country but to his friends, family and strangers. Upon his retirement from the Air Force in 1995, Dana started his handyman company Handy Man Dan and went above and beyond to care for friends and clients with the same amount of love and kindness that he treated his own family with. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, deep-sea fishing, spending time with his son and wife and more recently his granddaughter. He was always reminding his wife, “You are my Cindy, and I am your Dan”, as a testament to his love and dedication to his family.
Dana was best known for his larger-than-life personality, sense of humor and storytelling ability.
He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Cynthia Sheriff, son Edward Sheriff, daughter-in-law Chellicee Sheriff and only granddaughter Harper Sheriff, as well as a large group of loving friends and extended family. In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able make a monetary contribution directly to support them during this time. A memorial service will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 16, 2022 at 10am. A reception with refreshments will follow with interment at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:15pm.
