Cynthia was born September 24,1939 in Pottsville, Texas in Hamilton County to Floyd Lee Briley and Dorothy Alice Briley but was raised in Fort Worth and spent the rest of her life in the area.
On April 28,1956 at age 16, Cynthia married the love of her life, Walter Wesley Davis and they remained married for nearly 63 years until his death on March 17,2019.
Along the way Cynthia finished High School while working part time as a dental assistant, eventually earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Wesleyan College in 1965 and a Master’s Degree in Education from Texas Christian University. During her career she was an elementary school teacher, a special education diagnostician, and as principal at WJ Turner elementary. Home of the Turner Tigers. A school she loved so much she had a tiger tattooed on her calf after she retired.
Cynthia had a passion for travel, reading, bird watching, cooking, entertaining others, and hosting holiday dinners for her growing family for decades. Stemming from her talent in the kitchen, she often said she could “read menus in 12 languages”. She was known for her laugh, keen sense of humor, and her resilience, illustrated by one of her Facebook posts in 2016 featuring a close-up of a Spanish omelet. “When Walt drops a carton of eggs, make an omelet.” In her younger years she liked to embroider designs on shirts and create stained glass art.
Cynthia is survived by her sons Walter “Kirk” Davis of Hillsboro and Warren Lee Davis of Godley, and their wives Christi Tyrrell-Davis and Maria Amita Davis; her sister Judy Alice Osborn and nephew James Thomas Osborn of Austin; grandsons Calen Davis, River Davis, and Kyle Davis; Kyle’s wife Lindsey; Granddaughter Bonnie Jordan and her husband Joey Jordan; and great-grandchildren Stevie Davis, Corbin Jordan and Harper Jordan.
