I was better than Blessed, Praise the Lord!
Clarence L. Brown was born and raised in Frederick, Oklahoma to the Late Luther and Abbie Brown on Wednesday, September 29, 1948. He received his wings on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Clarence attended Kennedy Elementary and Boyd High school in Frederick, Oklahoma. He was on the yearbook staff during his senior year. He was also a member of 4-H Club, Dorothy Maynor Chorus, Basketball Trainer, Baseball, Football, and Wildcat Annual Business Manager. Clarence was nominated as Annual King during his senior year. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age. He attended First Baptist Church in Frederick, Oklahoma with his family.
Upon graduation of high school in 1966 Clarence was employed with Besty Bra. He later became a Patrolman with the Frederick Police Department and was promoted to Asst. Chief. Clarence always had a desired to better himself and provide the best life possible for his family so he sought employment with the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Correctional Officer where he rose up through the ranks and in 2000, he retired as a Captain after 23 years of dedicated services.
On January 20, 1969 Clarence Luther Brown was united in Holy Matrimony in Frederick, Oklahoma to the love of his life Lillie V. Smith of Tipton, Oklahoma and to this union two children were born, and three adopted.
Clarence was ordained as a Deacon on 30 April, 1996 at Starlight Baptist Church in Oakdale, Louisiana and on 15 July 2001 he was Ordained as Deacon at Great Commission Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. He loved to sing and had a beautiful voice several of his favorite songs were “This Little Light of Mine’, My God Is Real, and I Need Thee Every Hour”. He loved to laugh and was big on family gatherings especially when food was involved. He was also helpful in the kitchen it wasn’t unusual finding him in the kitchen helping Lillie prepare food for their guest. Clarence was not only a loving and caring father to his children, grand and great-grand children he shared this same love toward many Foster children for Nineteen years.
After retirement Clarence explored many of his dreams such as, buying and working on his pig farm. He wasn’t afraid to try something different. He was the life of the party. Want to laugh sit next to him and let the fun began.
Deacon Clarence Brown is survived by his beloved and faithful wife of 52 years Lillie V, Smith-Brown, his children; Angelia Brown-Hines of Fort Worth TX, Anthony Brown, David Brown, and Jonathan Brown all of Fort Worth, TX. Nine Grandchildren; Jordan Brown of Fort Worth, Megan Brown, and Braden Brown both of Texarkana, TX., Ka-Terra Brown-Foster (Antonio) of Valdosta, GA, Jazmen Brown-Gonda (Brian) of Wichita Falls, TX., Jaylen Hines of Mansfield, TX., Shakevia Hines of Houston, TX., Anthony Brown Jr., and Aviavna Joy Brown both of Fort Worth, TX. Seven Great-Grandchildren, two sisters Elois Callahan of Frederick, Oklahoma and Julia Govan of Dallas, Texas., one brother David Earl Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and his Cousin Helen Sanders of Dallas, TX. Two brothers-in-law Jimmy Smith Jr. (Elsie) of Frederick, OK., and Robert L Rooks (Climmie) of Harker Heights, TX., two sisters-in-law Jeanetta Hill (Larry) of Chickasha, OK and Lorraine Smith of Wichita Falls, TX., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his Great Commission Baptist Church family.
Deacon Clarence Brown was preceded in death by his loving parents Luther and Abbie Brown, his brother James Howard Brown and his beloved son Gary Don Brown.
A visitation for Clarence will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Great Commission Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. A committal service at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas will be held at 12:00 p.m.
