Christy Lynn Roberts was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on May 16, 1973, to Vickey and Ken Roberts. Her happy face smile brought joy and won the hearts of everyone from her earliest days to her last ones. Despite being born with Spina Bifida and Scoliosis, missing ribs, battling severe lung challenges, and enduring two significant surgeries as a young child which required her to wear a body cast for many months, Christy never lost her smile and zest for life. She courageously battled the reduction in lung capacity over the years, and she became quite adept at wheeling around an oxygen tank later in life. Even on some of her most difficult days, she still shared her radiant smile with everyone.
Christy loved her family, especially her nephew and niece. Holiday gatherings, birthday celebrations and family vacations were some of her favorite times. She had a kind spirit, a tender heart, and a joyful soul that extended far beyond her family to friends and work colleagues.
Attending Burleson schools and graduating in 1993, she worked several different jobs before finding her calling of working with children. She joined Little Tykes Day Care and Learning Centers almost 30 years ago, starting with the Burleson location, then moving to Hallmark and most recently the Crowley location. She proudly earned her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, a testament to her dedication to nurturing young minds. Christy was also part of the Camp Fire Early Education Apprenticeship program, an innovative initiative by the U.S. Department of Labor. This program was a journey for her, deepening her skills and passion as an early childhood educator. Over the last three decades, countless numbers of children at Little Tykes as well as their parents were positively impacted by Christy’s kindness, caring, encouragement and joy.
Christy is survived by her parents, Vickey and Ken Roberts; grandmother, Dorothy Marshall; sister, Kelly Roberts; brother, Shawn Roberts and his wife Thuy; nephew, Morgan Roberts; niece, Leyla Roberts; aunt, Peggy Marshall; and uncles, Leon Marshall and wife Donna; Carey Roberts; David Roberts; Reggie Roberts and his wife Paula, and Bobby Roberts and his wife Karen.
Christy will be missed by many. Thankfully, because of her Christian faith and trust in Jesus, we know she is in Heaven and shining like a bright star ...with a big happy smile.
