Chris's innate musical talent was evident from an early age, leading him to the piano with lessons taught by his mother but his true musical passion became evident as he learned to play and excel as an accomplished bass player. Throughout his life, he performed with numerous bands, most notably the group Holland, which in the 1980s, was the leading cover band in Alberta, Canada. His favorite musical group was Steely Dan, but his vast album collection includes Tower of Power, B.B. King, Ahmad Jamal, Earth, Wind and Fire, Chicago, and sundry jazz performers. His talent resonated in every note he played, captivating audiences and fellow musicians alike.
For 31 wonderful years, Chris shared his life with his devoted wife, Kym Lamb Maxwell. They moved to North Texas in the 1990s, and together, they built a loving home and raised two beautiful children. His daughter, Jordana Maxwell, and his son, Jarryd Maxwell, along with his wife Cayci, and their two children, McKenna and Brooks, brought immense joy to his life. In 2018, Chris’s life was saved through a lung transplant. He never forgot the selfless act of the donor because, through this gift, he was able to see the birth of his grandchildren and spend precious time with them.
Chris is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, sister, Sandra Maxwell, and her husband Gerard Caya, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, brother, Rodney Maxwell of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, mother- and father-in-law, Helen and George Lamb, of Arlington, Texas, sister- and brother-in-law, Beth and Steve Lamb, of Lakeside, Texas, nephew and wife, Jeanine and Iain Lamb, of Poulsbo, Washington, and niece, Cathryn Lamb of Fort Worth, Texas. Chris's warm presence, infectious smile, and incredible talent will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit will live on in the music he created and in the hearts of those who loved him. The family has asked that in place of flowers, memorials may be made to Saving Hope Animal Rescue in Fort Worth, Texas and Last Chance Corral in Athens, Ohio.
