Service: 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, in Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
Charles was born March 26, 1925, in Bailey to Charley and Sudie Shockley. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 28 years. He retired in December 1974 from Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth. After he retired, he went into selling real estate, then building houses, then he started his own roofing business. He retired for a life of traveling. He was a member of the Aero Space Optimist Club.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; two sisters; and his first wife, Nannie Bell Shockley.
We want to thank Walnut Creek Memory Care Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for taking care of Charles in the last few days of his life.
Survivors: His wife, Lillie Mae Daughrity, whom he married on June 25, 1999; daughters, Charlene Davidson and husband, Dave, Sandra Godawski and husband, Mike, and Stella Alspaugh; grandsons, Steven Suggs and wife, Suny, and Joseph Godawski and wife, Ashley; granddaughter, Elaine Duryea and husband, Timothy; great-grandsons, Max and Charley Duryea and Nolan Godawski; stepdaughter Janice Surles; stepson, Glenn Daughrity and wife, Glenda; stepgrandson, Phillip Surles and wife, Ashley; stepgreat-grandson, Benjamin Surles; half brother, Floyd Page; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and lots of friends and wonderful neighbors.
