He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home. Charles graduated from Cooper High School near Lubbock, Texas. He went to work for National Linen and Uniform Svc. as a fleet manager then a regional manager and retired from there. He then went to work for the Fort Worth Independent School District as the maintenance and transportation manager where he retired after 20 years of service. Charles loved to fish, camp and be with his loving family. He was a car guy and loved old cars and trucks. Especially the 40 and 50's era.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Ione Hughes of Post, TX and brother Harvey Hughes of Bangs, TX.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years of wonderful marriage, Helen Hughes of Burleson, TX; sons, Luther Hughes and wife, Tracy and Joe Hughes of Burleson, TX; sister, Maudie Jones of Portales, NM; sister in laws, Ann Hughes of Bangs, TX and Sharlene Wells of Idalou, TX; brother in law, Kenneth Wells and wife Paula Wells of Aguila, Arizona; grandchildren Russell Hughes, Lacey Hughes and Bridget Hughes of Burleson, TX; great-grandchildren Kyle, Ava, Kaylee, Ayden, Hootie, and Faith; lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
