In his life, he was blessed to live across Texas, spending time in Abilene, Austin, Cleburne, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and Nemo. A member of the R.O.T.C., he was called to active duty while in law school and served in the Transportation Corp at Fort Eustis, Virginia. This is the only time he lived outside Texas.
A band geek in his youth, Cecil played trumpet and French horn throughout middle school, high school, and college. He was a Pascal Panther who started college at Texas Christian University, ultimately graduating from the University of Texas in Austin. He raised his children the right way, on Bevo, burnt orange, and Big Bertha.
Cecil worked as an estate tax attorney for the Internal Revenue Service for thirty years. It was during this time he met and married Irene Reynolds while she worked for another government office in the same building. Together, they started a family and moved to the country.
Always strongly interested in science, Cecil tried a variety of hobbies including photography, cycling, gardening, assembling a television receiver, building a sailboat, and, of course, computers. Once personal computers became affordable, he purchased one along with some coding books. Eventually, his set-up took over the family dining room. In retirement, he started Cammack Computations Co. to sell the estate tax calculator he wrote, “Inter-Est”, and his personal consulting and tax calculation services. This was his second career.
Cecil was survived by his spouse of over 50 years, Irene Reynolds Cammack; his children, Wendy Cammack and William “Will” Cammack (spouse Michele); his grandchildren, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Cammack and Andrew Cammack; his bonus grandchildren, Autumn Crawford, Stephanie Saldana, Saida Saldana, Katherine “Katie” Owens, and Kimberly “Kim” Owens; and his sister, Virginia Cammack Cotten and her children, Elena Westbrook, Mary Randall, and James Cotton, and their families. He was also survived by numerous members of the Reynolds family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil C. Cammack and Ruth E. Cammack (née Reed); his child, Jennifer Cammack; and his brother-in-law, Donald “Don” Cotten.
