Carol was born in Pontiac, Mich., in February 1947 to Irving William Spanburg and Mary Genevieve Brinkley Spanburg. Her family remembers her as an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. She had a heart full of compassion and her joyful spirit was infectious to all who knew her and even those who did not. Carol had a knack for changing the mood in a room just by walking in. She loved the Lord and had complete faith and trust in Him. Carol enjoyed dancing, music and being a helping hand to others. One of the things that brought Carol immense joy in her later years was teaching the 2-year-old class every Thursday at Christ Chapel for Mothers' Day Out. She loved the children and she was obedient to her Lord so the combination was a perfect fulfillment for both the children and her. Carol enjoyed working with the elderly as well. Carol opened her heart not only to people, but also animals. If there was a stray within a block of her, they didn't stay strays for long.
Carol will join in heaven her parents, grandparents and husband, Ray.
Survivors: Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dawn Cecora Fox and husband, Richard; brother, John Spanburg and wife, Christine; and an aunt, uncle, many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
