Byron Dale Miller

Byron is survived by his son David Miller, daughter Ellen Greer and husband Lee, granddaughter Katherine Greer, nieces Jan Knull, Ann Curry, Joanie Fitzgerald Smith, Jean Fitzgerald Conley, Amy Fitzgerald Allen, and their families, nephew Rodney Brown, his daughter Mica and his wife Kim. He is preceded in death by his wife Norma, sister Joan Fitzgerald of Oklahoma City, and parents Leo and Merle Miller of Ottawa, Kansas.

Byron was born on May 13, 1926 on the family farm near Ottawa, Kansas, to Leo and Merle Miller. After high school, Byron enlisted and served as Private First Class in Germany during WWII. After the war, he graduated from the University of Kansas in 1949 with a degree in engineering. He married Norma Brown in 1954.

After moving to Fort Worth, Texas, he began working for General Dynamics as a test flight engineer on the B-58 jet bomber. In the early 1960's, Byron had more Mach 2 flight time than any other civilian. Over the next few years, the couple welcomed 2 children into their home and Byron and Norma set about teaching them how to be devoted followers of Jesus Christ. His children remember him as a fun-loving, kind, and patient father who encouraged them to live by Christian principles.

Byron was an accomplished Sunday School teacher, private pilot, and often built large structures to house equipment on Norma's farm in Aledo, TX. He was a generous man who loved helping those less fortunate, whether volunteering at the Gladney Home or feeding the hungry through his non-profit farm, Clearfork Creek Farm. He was an active and dedicated member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Crowley.

A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 1pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home - Chapel of Chimes, with a reception to follow in the Laurel Room. Pastor Adam Keating will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Byron's life.
