Billie Roy Thweatt (Bill), was born October 23, 1932 to Roy Obed and Lois Zena Thweatt in the small town of Santa Anna, Texas. He grew up in Gouldbusk, Texas south of Coleman, Texas in Coleman County. He graduated from Mozelle High School where he played baseball, basketball and football, after graduation he went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science of Accounting degree at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.
In 1953 he married the love of his life miss Patsy Faye Throgmorton of Brown Ranch also in Coleman County, where they had a double wedding with her twin sister Peggy and her husband Lewie Newman. Bill went on to work as Office manager and Purchasing manager at Mrs. Baird’s Bakery in Abilene, where they had three children Beverly, Mike and Barry. He also played Santa Claus for many years in front of the bakery at their Christmas display. In 1966 the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas where Bill accepted a promotion while still working with Mrs. Baird’s. On or about 1970 Bill accepted a position as Purchasing manager at Tandy Leather Corp. where he worked 35 for years, before retiring in 2005. While working for Tandy Bill traveled extensively to places like England, Germany, Canada and Japan.
Bill was an avid golfer and played in many tournaments with his eldest son Mike. He shot a hole in one at Firestone C.C. in Ohio, where he met his idol and professional golfer Payne Stewart. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, TCU, and Texas Longhorns. He also loved hunting and fishing, going on many hunting trips with his fellow workers from Tandy.
He is preceded in death by his dad Roy, his mother Lois, and his older brother Jim Bob.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Patsy, his daughter Beverly and her husband Kevin, his son’s Mike and Barry. Four grandchildren Nycole, Lacie, Justin and Garrett, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
